Turning rent into ownership for essential workers

Build to Rent to Own (B2R2O) is a nonprofit housing initiative creating a pathway to homeownership for the teachers, nurses, and first responders who keep Collier County running.

New construction

We develop dignified, new-build housing — not retrofits or hand-me-downs. Quality homes designed for lasting value.

Rent-to-own pathway

A structured 3-year program that turns renters into owners through savings, financial literacy, and affordable pricing.

Recoverable capital

Philanthropic grants are returned as homes sell, recycling donor capital into future projects. Impact that compounds.

The problem

The people who run our community can't afford to live in it

In Collier County, the median home price exceeds $500,000 — while a starting teacher earns $57,000. That's a nearly 9-to-1 ratio that puts homeownership out of reach for the essential workers our community depends on every day.

Most housing programs stop at rentals. But renting offers no path to wealth, no generational stability, and no real stake in the community. B2R2O is building something different — a bridge from renting to owning, designed for the workforce families who keep Collier County running.

Collier County by the numbers

  • $57K CCPS starting teacher salary
  • ~9:1 home price to income ratio
  • 45% of renters are cost-burdened
  • 0 new rent-to-own programs (before B2R2O)
